I rented a 85mm f/1.2L for the weekend. Didn't get to use it as much as I would have liked but I got a few good shots out of it.

logicblue @ 2008-07-20T03:47:00 // 2008-07-20T08:10:02ZTomorrow I go to Sarah and Ari's goodbye bbq, and I'm kind of upset about it. Ari is a swell guy, but he's not why I'm upset. I'll be missing Sarah. We don't hang out all too often (not often enough), and sometimes, just sometimes, our time together is ever so slightly awkward. But she is important...and I'll miss her.

But I will...will visit. And I am excited about it.

Human beings. What are we? Organs wrapped in bones, wrapped in muscle, wrapped in skin, with a sprinkling of hair. Walking around, glued to the Earth by gravity. Spitting out ideas, creating things, producing for other humans to consume. What are we outside of ourselves? We launch ourselves into outer-space from time to time, but what for? The instinct to explore? To push ourselves? It's wonderful, it really is. But it doesn't amount to anything (so is it really all that wonderful?). Out pops the need for a greater purpose. I being more powerful, bigger, than ourselves to give us meaning. But its just another human creation. So what do we do? I guess...we try and enjoy ourselves, and help others enjoy themselves. We have this time together. Be kind, be loving, smile...and mean it.

Astronauts got whiskey. Cosmonauts got vodka. I was lucky...I was an astronaut.

I feel like writing... // 2008-06-17T01:05:20ZLast night, while killing time before the Jackpot opened, I got a flat tire. I was standing there on the side of the road looking up the correct bike safety hand signals when suddenly I heard a hiss. At first I thought it was the sprinklers coming on but it wasn't. It was my tire. I'll take this opportunity to complete the single-speed conversion.

Parts one and two of DECAMPMENT arrived today. I broke out the white gloves and listened to both sides of part one. I'll save part two for sometime closer to part three's arrival date. I was not disappointed. I'll need to figure out how I'm going to digitize these 45's. Also, when part three arrives I'll begin picking out frames for the prints that come with each 7". These aren't posters. They are a limited run of 100 actual photographic prints. They deserve frames.

Something strange is in the air. The house was temporarily infested with flies. Where did they spawn from? Is there a sandwich under the bed I forgot about? I prefer to think that they came with DECAMPMENT. It would be so fitting. Also, I spilt the compost on the kitchen floor and it looked beautiful. I took a photo but it won't look beautiful because you weren't there.

I've finished the Miranda July book of short stories, No one belongs here more than you. Time to move to the next book. Speaking of which, it is 9pm. Time to go to the reading room.
